South Dallas Fair Park Neighborhood Development Fund (Loan)
The South Dallas community is experiencing development and redevelopment at an accelerating pace. Numerous projects are already underway or planned in the community that will expand the business base that help neighborhoods to be more vibrant and safe. The business base is expanding, too.
A portion of the northern section of the South Dallas community has been designated a Tax Increment Financing District (TIF), that will also spur investment. Some highlights include:
- Bexar Street I & II/Turner Courts Redevelopment
- Community organization programs and activities
- Eban village
- Expansion for viable businesses
- Forest Heights Development Center
- MLK & 4th Avenue Dart Rail Station Development
- Frazier Courts/DHA Redevelopment Project
- Grand Park South TIF District
- Rhodes Terrance
- St. Phillips/Forest Heights Housing and Redevelopment
- South Blvd./Park Row Historic Preservation District
The City of Dallas has been the catalyst for many of these projects.
The overarching goal of the Trust Fund continues to facilitate economic and community development in the South Dallas/Fair Park community, in the following program areas:
- Business and economic development initiatives
- Housing and community development
- Community service programs to provide job related and human service assistance
Commercial Loan
Terms:
- Available to area businesses
- Low Interest (3%)
- Five (5) years to repay the loan
- $1,000 to $50,000
- Requires collateral of 125% of the loan
Objective: Business development and retention, job creation and retention Businesses that are located in Census Tracts 25, 27.01, 27.02, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39.01, 39.02 and 40 are eligible to apply for the programs of the Trust Fund.
